Talks

thought provoking

Our Talks are a fascinating exploration of some game-changing ideas on some of the most prominent questions employees, businesses and schools face: They include dealing with diversity, emotional issues at work, reconsidering ‘going it alone’ in favour of collaboration and techniques to help us better understand and support our minds. And there is nothing more powerful than learning from and sharing space with our lived experience speakers.

Our Talks

Belonging to Equity Diversity Inclusion

Discussions around diversity, equal pay, and inclusion abound. And businesses are recognising that these changes need to happen. To embrace those changes leaders and stakeholders have to feel non-threatened and motivated. In short that they belong. We consider the importance of understanding the value of interpersonal connections and the importance of cross-cultural awareness. This Talk is a guide to achieving diversity that lasts.

Afriphobia & The Black Experience

The Black experience is often wrapped in a lack of representation and racism. Sometimes, expressing one’s experience is met with more resistance to calling out racism than the act of racism itself. We provide Talks that speak to the Black experience and the success of African people despite the obstacles of racism. Gritty, warm and witty, they are a must for any event.

The Necessity for Trauma-Informed Workplaces

We live in traumatic times. Current events like COVID, the cost of living crisis and images of police brutality have increased long-lasting emotional and physical distress of people globally. A trauma-informed is a recognised paradigm for creating safer services and spaces. In this exploratory talk, we will learn about the pressing need to introduce a trauma-informed approach and what a trauma-informed organisation looks like.

Emotional Intelligence @ Work

In this talk, we look at the importance of emotional intelligence. We explore what it means, the benefits of having an emotionally intelligent workforce, and how it impacts leadership, growth, and the essential skills to prosper at work and at home.

From Within Actualised Leadership

Leadership is evolving. Leaders are no longer formed only in our most elite institutions. And working environments are changing. An unorthodox culture propelled Netflix to be one of the most innovative, imaginative, and successful companies. Maybe it is time to let go of the irrefutable laws of leadership and run with an emotional and spiritual dimension, Actualised leadership. This talk explores Actualised, no-fault leadership. It is a unique winning style that pulls out the positive in people.

Toxic Positivity

In our working and private lives no matter what happens – ‘Don’t worry, be happy’ is the order of the day. A positive mindset is a positive tool. But as lived experience experts we know that it is a fine line between helpful and potentially hurtful comments. If vivacious is the answer, why are so many anxious, burnt out and depressed? In this talk, we will discuss the importance of business optimism and how that can bleed into toxic positivity for staff, how we can overcome toxic positivity and explore the meaning and benefits of our emotions and spirit as our guide to a happy, joyous life.

Collaboration

There are many examples of how society directs and praises the idea of the individual creator. In reality, success is a collaborative effect. In this talk, we uncover the collaborative approach and all its benefits with examples of why it is the most significant criterion for project, team and business success. And how we can move toward a more collaborative approach to working.

An average visit is approximately 60 minutes, including a talk and a Q&A session.

Our speakers have experience delivering to young audiences and diverse audiences.

Talks can be delivered to very large audiences, the number is more dependent on the venue capacity and the technology that is available. As such, they act as a great introduction to our work.

Yes. However, because specific Workshops, Talks and Conversations complement one another and work well together, we often recommend booking them as part of more extended programmes, according to your team or business needs. Either way, they are a great introduction to us.

We design these Talks for corporate training – where an organisation books private sessions for their internal teams, delivered at their chosen time. However, if they are making the event public or you want to attend one of our public events, check out the Public Speaking and Event page.

We generally do not allow filming of any of our live events. Still, it would likely inhibit the feeling of safety and privacy required by attendees to participate fully. Our goal is always to create the very best experience for our participants, and we try to preserve the closed nature of the sessions. However, we have occasionally allowed companies to film the Talk and licence the content for a limited time for an additional fee. The content of our Talks is often copyrighted.
